Schwenkfelder Distinctives
We are Christians who strive to be . . .
Understanding of Others. We aim to be diplomatic in discussions, agreeing to disagree when issues cannot be resolved, and strive to live an exemplary way (1 Timothy 4:12).
Students of the Bible. We believe that Christian education is vital. The Bible is to be studied “for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16). Small group Bible study and personal devotion is encouraged.
People of prayer. We believe in the importance of prayers both personal and corporate offered in the name of Jesus Christ to the living God. These are to be offered daily and weekly (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
People concerned about human need. Missions at home and abroad are important. Love in action and in truth is preferred over words. (1 John 3:17-18)
People interested in meaning. We are interested in meaning rather than method, purpose rather than form. (John 4:24)
Disciples of Christ who are continually growing. We recognize that we have an eternity of growth before us within the “School of Christ.” To that end, we are faithful in worship, study, and service. (Ephesians 4:13)
Those who faithfully participate in worship and sacrament. We enjoy singing together. We partake of the Lord’s Supper where the Spirit of Christ is present in our midst as we sincerely commune together.
